Jeanette M. Grybos, 90 TAMPA, FLA. - There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at St. Christine Church, celebrated by Fr. John Keehner, for Jeanette M. Grybos , 90, previously of Youngstown, who passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, surrounded by her family. Jeanette was born March 16, 1923, in the Philippines, moving to the Youngstown area in 1947. Jeanette had two years of nurse's training in the Philippines when World War II broke out. She aided several U.S. Army units, including the Counter Intelligence Corps (now the CIA) against the Japanese Army invading the Philippines. When she came to Youngstown she studied law for two years at Youngstown College, where she was the only woman in her class. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of St. Christine's Parish. She was a member and the first president of the Mahoning County Republican Women's Club; a member of National Federation of Republican Women, Mahoning County Bar Auxiliary, F.O.P. Auxiliary of Youngstown Police Dept., Friends of Mill Creek Park Association, member and Social Chairman of Federated Ethnic Cultures and Fil-Am Association member. She was also a recipient of the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom. Her husband, Attorney Anthony J. Grybos, whom she married Jan. 22, 1947, died on Sept. 24, 1987, after 40 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, her four loving daughters, Lydia Grybos, Doriane Grybos, Arlene (Jurek) Czyzowski, all of Tampa, and Crystal Freedland of Boston; and three grandchildren, Jason, stationed in Hawaii with the Navy, Anthony of Chicago, and Alexia Czyzowski of Tampa. Besides her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore, John, William and Raymond Gillies; and two sisters, Katherine Gillies Bernardez and Marie Gillies. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Wednesday at St. Christine Church prior to her Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeanette's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
