Obituary

Jerome C. Kriss, 95 Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Jerry Kriss,95, of Youngstown who passed away Wednesday evening at the Inn at Christine Valley, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born May 10, 1918 in Youngstown a son of Andrew and Mary Bodnovich Krispinsky and has been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Ursuline High School with the Class of 1936 and attended John Carroll University. He was a veteran of the Army serving his country during WWII. After the war he worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Ward Baking Company and Hyland Excavating Company. He was a football coach at St. Patrick's Elementary School for nine years and was selected as St. Patrick's Man of the Year in 1961. He was inducted into the Cardinal Mooney Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991 after volunteering for 44 years at running the clock for the Basketball team . Jerry was a member of St Dominic Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters and Teamster's Local 377. He was an avid golfer who played until he was 90 years old. His wife Ruth Conway whom he married May 29,1941 died February 24, 1996 just short of celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Jerome J. ( Julia ) Kriss of Arlington, VA, William J.Kriss of Oakbrook, IL; two daughters, Susan (Albert ) Caparso of Lowellville, Margaret Weigert of Portland, OR; a sister Amelia Andrisek of Franklin,TN; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by five brothers, Msgr. Joseph A. Krispinsky, Rev. John W. Krispinsky, George Kriss, Ted Krispinsky, Stanley Kriss; a sister Sr. Dominick; and a daughter-in-law Julia Kriss. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home. Jerry's children would like to thank the staff at MVI Hospice and the staff at the Inn at Christine Valley for the love and compassion they extended to their father.
