Joan "Joni" J. McKeown, 81 YOUNGSTOWN - There will be prayers at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Keehner for Joan J. McKeown, 81, who passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice House. Joan was born August 16, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of Virgil and Julia Begalla Haught and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with the Class of1951. Joan was a homemaker and worked for many years at the Youngstown Water Department. Joan was a long time parishioner of St. Christine Parish, a member of Infant Jesus of Prague, Rosary Guild, Bereavement and the Health and Wellness Committees as well as a Homebound Minister serving communion to those who were unable to attend mass. She belonged to various card clubs, the Woodrow Wilson Alumni Group, Junior Seton Circle, she also enjoyed traveling, going to casinos but most of all spending time with her family. Her husband, Raymond John McKeown, whom she married September 3, 1955, passed away March 25, 2005 just short of celebrating 50 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Cheryl McKeown of Palm Harbor, FL, Noreen (Deryll) Rohda of Columbus, OH, Daniel (Sherri) McKeown of Boardman; four grandchildren, Sean and Ryan McKeown and Claire and Max Rohda; a sister, Louise Joerndt of Youngstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, Joan was preceded in death by a son Terrence McKeown; two sisters, Rosemary Feret and Chessie Liguori and a brother Steve Haught. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home. Joni's family would like to thank Dr. Kimberly E. Resnick and her staff at University Hospital (Seidman Cancer Center) and Dr. Adrian Ieraci and his staff. Any monetary donations can be made in Joan's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St, Boardman, OH 44512.
