Obituary

Joanne E. Murphy, 74 BOARDMAN-Joanne E. Murphy, 74 Prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Gregory Maturi at 10:00 a.m. at St .Dominic Church for Joanne Murphy, who passed away peacefully at home Friday evening surrounded by her family. Joanne was born September 2, 1937 in Youngstown, a daughter of Ralph and Adele Maxim Mondora and was a life-long area resident. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with the Class of 1955. She worked at Ohio Bell then spent many years as a homemaker while raising her seven children to whom she devoted her entire life. She then returned to the work force with the Youngstown Water Department until her retirement. She was a long time parishioner of St. Dominic Parish, a member of their PTA. She enjoyed many activities , including Wednesday volleyball with the ladies, monthly luncheons with lifelong friends, and especially spending time with her dear YMCA girls. Joanne was a great supporter of Cardinal Mooney High School and YSU programs and athletics. She mostly enjoyed cheering for her grandchildren at their sporting events and other activities. She will be greatly missed by her husband of over fifty three years, John T. Murphy whom she married September 13. 1958. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children; Bridget (Chris) Weber of Boardman, Joanie Murphy of Ashburn, VA, John T. (Linda) Murphy II of Youngstown, Jennifer (Mike) Ritter of North Lima, Mollie (Chuck) Kay of Boardman, Elizabeth (Dave) Phillips of Boardman, Daniel (Leslie) Murphy of Canton; her sister Adele Economus of Youngstown; her sixteen grandchildren, Jackie, Joe and Jake Weber; John Murphy; Lynnie, Anthony and Daniel Ritter; Patrick, Carolyn and Matthew Kay; Michael, Mark and Jack Phillips; Luke,Janine and Cara Murphy and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Besides her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brother Ralph Mondora and sister Marilyn Mondora. Joanne's family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Valley for the loving care they showed their mother and would like any memorial donations to be made in Joanne's name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St. Boardman, OH 44512. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home.
