Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN- John J. Ciavarella ,67 Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, January 7,2011 at the New Hope Community Church , for John J. Ciavarella Sr., 67 of Youngstown, who passed away Monday morning at Forum Health Hospital. John was born April 3, 1943 in Youngstown, a son of Lou G. Ciavarella Sr. and Clementine "Dina" Gariotti Ciavarella Gellenthien and has been a life-long area resident. He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School with the Class of 1961. John was a veteran who served as a United States Marine in the early 1960s. He was an Operating Engineer who worked many years with United Excavating. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66, the Model A antique car club and enjoyed making model airplanes. John was a pilot for many years, building and flying his own planes as a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. But what he loved most of all was spending time with his five grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his son, John J. (Melissa) Ciavarella Jr. with whom he made his home in Boardman, his daughter Natalie Ciavarella of East Palestine; his mother Clementine "Dina" Ciavarella Gellenthein of Youngstown; three brothers, Joseph J. Ciavarella of Cape Coral FL., Louis G Ciavarella Jr. of Poland, David R. Ciavarella of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Jessica and Jaedon Tseng, Alexandra, Brandon and Logan Ciavarella. He was preceded in death by his father Lou G. Ciavarella Sr. Friends may call Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at New Hope Community Church, 493 Bev Road, Boardman 44512 prior to services.
