YOUNGSTOWN - John A. Daniels, 81, passed away at the Hospice of the Valley on May 11 surrounded by his loving family. John (known to many as Jack) was born November 28, 1934 in Youngstown, Ohio, alongside his twin brother and best friend, the late Frank Daniels Jr., to Viola Gremika and Frank Daniels Sr. He was a graduate of St. Casimir's High School in Pittsburgh, PA and of Youngstown State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. John served in the U.S. Army with his twin, where both rose to the rank of Corporal and worked as radio operators. Following his service in the Korean War, John was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier for over 40 years. John was a talented golfer who also enjoyed playing card games and going to Cardinal Mooney High School football games. An avid jokester, he will be warm-heartedly remembered for his jests and ready wit. John was a devoted member of St. Dominic Parish and of the Cursillo Movement, where he served as a rector. John will be sadly missed by many, including his devoted wife, Peggy (Franklin) whom he married June 16, 1962; his five children, Mary Gamberale (Frank) of Canfield; Janet Daniels of Denver, CO; Jack Daniels (Suzanne) of Cleveland; Gibby Bittman (John) of Vermilion; and Maggie Daniels (Matt Michel) of Oak Hill, VA; five grandchildren: Matthew, Josh, David, Carina and Gianna; as well as his many life-long friends, in-laws, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, May 13 at St. Dominic Parish at 10:00 a.m. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
