John Russell Finley Jr., 84 BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, officiated by the Rev. Ash Welch at the Fox Funeral Home for John Russell Finley Jr., 84, who passed away Wednesday evening. John was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Zanesville, a son of Dr. John Sr. and Elizabeth Phelps Finley. He was a 1953 graduate of Ohio University and was a Vice-President and Trust Officer for Cleveland Trust, AmeriTrust and Key Bank. He was a member of the Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights and the First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown. John was very active in the community with Boardman Kiwanis, the Memorial Day Parade, the Pumpkin Crave, Pet Show and Easter Egg Hunt. He was voted Citizen of the Year in 2002 by the Boardman Civic Association. John was a Eagle Scout and was active with the Boy Scouts. He served in the Navy during World Warr II and became a 1st Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Nancy E. Reid, whom he married Nov. 21, 1958; three children, John Russell Finley III of Boardman, Elizabeth Finley-Belgrad, M.D., of Boardman and Barbara Finley-Schiavone of Pittsburgh; a sister, Ann Lewis of North Carolina; and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph and Adele Belgrad and Rebecca and Gregory Schiavone. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Finley-Eberle. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
