JOHN FRANCIS "JACK " BERTCH, 91 YOUNGSTOWN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Rogers at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, at Saint Charles Church for John Francis "Jack" Bertch, 91, who passed away Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. John was born Feb. 8, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of Frank J. and Charlotte Moore Bertch. He was a graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown College. John was a retired insurance agent and a real estate brooker. He was a member of Saint Charles Church and a member of the Oblate Sisters of S.H.J., Cinquanta Club, K of C Council number 274, Military order of the Purple Heart No. 606, Ex-POW Mahoning county Chapter and the DAV. John was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and served in the Europeon Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 643 rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Esther K. Shultz whom he married Jan. 1, 1985. He also leaves his stepchildren, Janet Mueller (Rejean Bouillion) of British Columbia, Canada and Richard C. (Susan) Mueller of Novi, Mich.; and three grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie C. Antonucci; his two sisters, Marion Gallagher and Rita E. Wargo; and two brothers, Thomas T. and Frank J. III Bertch. Friends may call on Saturday at Saint Charles Church from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Material tributes can be made in John's name to Saint Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512.
