John S. Hobart, 82 POLAND - There will be a private funeral service celebrated by Fr. Terrence Hazel for John S. Hobart, 82 , who passed away Sunday morning at Sunrise Assisted Living. John was born June 19, 1931 in Girard, a son of Henry and Elva Hobart and has been a life-long area resident. He was a veteran who served his country with the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Michael's parish and worked most of his life at Syro Steel Company. John was a professional boxer and trainer and was inducted into the Ohio State Former Boxer's Association Hall of Fame. His wife Millie whom he married June 19, 1981 died on September 1, 2013. He leaves his son Danny (Kim) Hobart of Florida; his daughter Beth Wallace also of Florida; two grandchildren, Michael and Jonathon Hobart; a great-granddaughter Madison; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Thomas Hobart and his sister Mary Jane Maroon. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sunrise for their loving care of John .
