John R Irwin, 88 WESTERVILLE, OH-- John Robert Irwin, age 88 was born in Meadville PA on July 10,1920 and died Tuesday morning at Mt. CarmeL St. Anns Hospital in Westerville, OH. He resided in Canfield, OH from 1960 to 2005. He grew up in Hubbard, OH and lived in the Youngstown area all his life. He was a volunteer remedial reading coach for elementary school children in HIS retirement years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in 5 campaigns with the 8th and 9th Army Air Corp Depot Supply Squadrons. Besides his wife, the former Elizabeth Ann Jones (Bette), whom he married July 12, 1945, he leaves his children, Susan Elizabeth White of Santa Barbara, CA, John Robert III and Michael Irwin both of Westerville, OH, Betty Lynn (Don) Bobel of Dublin ,OH and Nancy Irwin of Sunbury, OH; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Tatum Danhauer of Santa Barbara, CA, Joshua Ryan Irwin of Bonita Springs, FL, Kathleen Erin Henry of New Albany, OH, and John Robert Irwin IV of Westerville, OH; great-grandchildren, Reese Constance Danhauer and Tyler Lynn Henry. His parents, John Robert Irwin and Elizabeth Ann (Dee) Sherry and a sister, Shirley Fedor, are deceased. He and his wife were long time owners of Sherry's Inc. of Youngstown, OH, a quality women's ready to wear salon. He was a pilot, a Taylorcraft owner, an avid golfer, a member of the Elks, Lions, South Side Civics, Tippecanoe Country Club, and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. A private family service is planned in Youngstown and arrangements will be handled by Fox Funeral Home.
