Obituary

John L. Kovey, 90 SAVANNAH , GEORGIA - Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Charles Catholic Church for John L. Kovey of Savannah, GA formerly of Boardman who died Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Kovey was born August 15, 1915, in Youngstown, the son of Ivan and Anna Petric Kovacicek . He graduated from The Rayen School and The Ohio State University, College of Business where he cofounder the Newman Club at OSU. He married the former Julia Sulick , November 21, 1939 and after serving in the army, in Germany, during WWII , they returned to settle in Boardman. Early in his career he worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. He then moved into a teaching career where he completed a graduate program in Special Education while first teaching and coaching football at West Branch Middle School and then teaching at Canfield Village Middle School. He was a member of the Chesterton Club and served as an usher at St. Charles Church. Community memberships also included the Elks Club, Croation Club, Coin and Stamp Clubs, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a son, Robert J. Kovey of Massillon, OH; a daughter Eileen Arnold of Rincon, Georgia; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, November 7th at St. Charles Church, Boardman, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Dr., Boardman, OH 44512.
