Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Peters at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, for John M. Pangio, 86 of Boardman, who passed away peacefully Tuesday evening. John was born November 4, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Illeen Pauliso Pangio. He was a East High School graduate. John worked at Republic Steel and was a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member St. Angela Merici parish Scared Heart C hurch and the Softball Hall of Fame. John was the founder of the Youngstown Steel Valley Slow Pitch League. He was a private first class in the Army from 1951 to 1953. His wife the former Tonette Neal passed away Sept 19, 1995. He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons Michael J. (JoAnn) Pangio of Struthers and John J. Pangio of Youngstown, a daughter Mary Eileen (Lawrence) Dixie of Youngstown, a brother Angelo (Sandy) Pangio of Campbell, three sisters Theresa Aaron, Anita (Jim) Palocy and Jean (Bob) Korhely all of Youngstown, seven grandchildren Jason Pangio, Aaron Pangio Rachel Cairns, Joshua Dixie, Levi Dixie, David Dixie and John Pangio, Jr. and six great grandchildren. Besides his wife, John is preceded in death by a brother Daniel Pangio and his sister Louise Ward and brother-in-law Hank Aaron. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
