Joseph Frank Gavini-95 A private burial service to celebrate the life of Joseph Frank Gavini was held Friday at Calvary Cemetery. Joseph was born on February 26, 1918 in Genoa, Italy a son of Ralphaelo & Jenny Pulgiese Gavini and came to the United States by boat in 1921. He worked for US Steel for 41 years here he only missed one day of work. He was a veteran from the United States Army, serving in the Medic 37th infantry in the Philippines and Fiji. Joe started the "Sam Camden Old Timers Foundation" on Salt Spring Rd in 1980. He enjoyed bowling and golf and was involved in many leagues. His wife Elsie Gasper whom he married January 1, 1942 died on May 27, 1996 after 54 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, Ralph (Dolores) Gavini of Columbiana; a daughter Laura Asti (fiancAC.' Robert Jones) of Boardman; a sister Norma Powers of Naples, FL; two granddaughters Alyssa Asti (fiancAC.' Brandon Bruce), Tracy (William) Harris; three great grandchildren Hannah Harris, Matthew Harris and Dylan Bruce.
