BOARDMAN-Joseph J. Vannuki,96 Joseph J. Vannuki died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at the Hospice House of Hospice of the Valley following a month long illness. Born in Lucca, Italy on Jan. 4, 1914, the only child to Antonietta Salani and Luigi Vannucchi, Joseph arrived in the United States in 1920. He was a dutiful and loving son and the first member of his family to learn English. He graduated from Canton Business School during the height of the Great Depression. This experience would influence him his entire life, as he became known for his logical, cost-efficient and careful ways as an accountant for 43 years with Republic Steel. He moved from Canton to Youngstown in 1958, where he retired in 1976, as the Comptroller of the Truscon Division Managing Group. After his retirement, he worked as a financial consultant and member of the Board of Directors of Alliance Machine Corporation, and the Republic Steel Pension Fund Advocacy Group. Joseph was a member of the Finance Council of St. Charles Church, past President of The Youngstown Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, volunteer financial consultant to the diocese of Youngstown, the Ursuline Sisters, St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Youngstown Playhouse, Treasurer of the Great Lakes SeniorsA
