Obituary

The family of Joseph F. Vivalo Jr. will be receiving guests at St. Christine's Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave. Youngstown, Ohio Saturday Feb. 8 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow. Joseph, 53, passed away suddenly Feb.5. Joe was born Dec. 30, 1960 In Youngstown, Ohio to Marie and Joseph Vivalo. He was a graduate of Ursuline High School and Ohio University where he earned a B.G.S. in Political Communications. Joe was an extremely bright, creative person who had an illustrious career in the political and environmental arena starting with the Director of Fundraising for Ferraro for U.S. Senate and the Clinton/Gore Presidential Inaugural. Joe's passion for the environment landed him positions as strategists for the US Environmental Protection Agency and Oceana. Joe was extremely committed to AIDS awareness and produced numerous events including the Whitman-Walker Aids Walk/Ride in Washington D.C. He had an incredible passion for music, the arts, traveling, reading, gardening and fishing. Joe swam for the Youngstown YMCA SwimTeam and qualified for the US National Olympic tryouts. Since moving to Key West Florida Joe enjoyed his daily swim in the ocean. Joe, the son of the late Joseph F. Vivalo is survived by his mother Marie Ann Vivalo (Dolly), siblings Debbie Vivalo (Jim, Isabella and Nicholas) Jeff Vivalo (Patty, John Vivalo (Julie and Clara); Katie Vivalo-Rouse; (Doug, Ali and Emma); Jacqueline Vivalo; Michael Vivalo (Rebecca and Sean) and Kimberly Vivalo Michel (David, Carson and London.) He also is survived by a large extended family that he loved and cherished very much. Joe will be missed by all the lives he touched during his life on earth.
