Josephine Theresa DeNiro, 84 POLAND -Josephine Theresa DeNiro, 84, passed away Thursday evening, Aug. 4, 2011, surrounded by her family. Josephine was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of Sam and Mary Poidmore DiGiacomo. She was a lifelong area resident. She attended South High School, where she was the valedictorian of the Class of 1945. Josephine was the cofounder of DeNiro Cheese Company, where she worked for over 50 years. She was a parishioner at St. Dominic Parish. She is survived by a daughter, Stefanie (Judson) Martt of Columbus; four sons, Mickey (Mary Beth) DeNiro of Santa Barbara, Calif., Allan (Elaine) DeNiro of Atlanta, Gregory (Heidi) DeNiro of Youngstown and John (Betsy) DeNiro of Columbus; two sisters, Janina Schettino of Orange County, Calif. and Marie Pupino of Youngstown; a brother, Frank DiGiacomo of Youngstown; 14 grandchildren; Meghan, Maura, Melissa, Nick, Allison, Lauren, Michael, Eileen, Gregory, Joseph, Dominic, Daniel, Tess and Kelly; and 10 great-grandchildren, Logan, Maddox, Sean, Garrett, Brendan, Landon, Sophia, Caroline, Margaret and Julia. Besides her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by her former husband, Michael A. DeNiro. Friends may call Monday, Aug. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home Boardman. There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Dominic Church, Youngstown. The family wishes any monetary donations be made in Josephine's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland.
