Obituary

BOARDMAN- Katherine (Kitten, Kitty, Kit) Tkach Prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Church, Boardman for Katherine Tkach, who passed away Wednesday evening at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Youngstown surrounded by her loving family. Kitty died of a rare reaction to chemotherapy after fighting a courageous battle for 47 days. Ms. Tkach was born April 18th in Youngstown, a daughter of Richard and Frances Fabry Tkach. She was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from The Kent State University with a B.S. in Education. Kitty later proudly earned her License as a Nursing Home Administrator and was most recently employed in Dayton, OH. Kitty's greatest joy was being a caregiver and it was the elderly, those in nursing homes or living alone who benefited most from her kindness, empathy and compassion. She was also a constant companion to her mom. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Richard and Frances Tkach of Boardman, Kitty leaves her brother Rick Tkach, with whom she had a special bond and his Susie Patton of Poland, sister MaryBeth Tkach, with whom she gabbed daily and Capt. Ron Hoffmann of Ocean City, MD, Amy (Hughes) Bowles, who was Kitty's trusted nurse, especially in her final hours and her husband MSgt. John Bowles of Cincinnati, OH. Kitty will also be remembered by her beloved niece and nephew Lexi and Blake Hughes, whom she affectionately called her pupkers. Kitty also leaves her Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Gene Lessick whom she recently helped transition to an assisted living facility, her Godparents Aunt Rita (deceased) and Uncle Orlando Iacobucci, her gambling buddies Aunt Heather and Uncle Fred Fabry, Uncle Ed (deceased) and Aunt Carol Kach, Uncle Steve (deceased) Tkach and her long time friends Germaine, Laurie, Lora Ann, Margaret, Rita (Hayworth), Robin and her special cousin Marie. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty, Little ball of fur. Happy Kitty, Sleepy Kitty, Purr, Purr, Purr.
