Obituary

Kathryn Conner, 93 BOARDMAN--Kathryn Conner died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Caprice Health Care in Boardman, Ohio. She was born September 23, 1915, the daughter of Thomas Davis and Leah Pemberton Davis, both of Youngstown, Ohio. On August 17, 1946, she married Jack Conner, who preceded her in death in 1975. She graduated from The Rayen School in 1932 and attended Youngstown College. Upon graduation and during World War II, she was the executive secretary to the president of the East Ohio Gas Company and later worked as the executive secretary to a number of local physicians. Mrs. Conner was an active and lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served in a number of organizations associated with the church, including altar guild, the Boar's Head Festival and the Vestry. She was the past president of two federated women's organizations, Illalee and Thorpians. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxilliary and and active member of the Soup Kitchen. She loved to play bridge and belonged to several active bridge groups throughout her life. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered as a woman of strong faith who found great joy in family and friends, and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sally Russell, son-in-law, Philip and granddaughter Rachel, all of Stamford, Connecticut. The Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Episcopal Church, Youngstown on Saturday, February 8, 2009 at 11AM. by the Revered Jeremiah Williamson. Prior to the service, friends may call at the church at 10AM. Interment will be private at Lake Park CemetEry. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or to Southern Care Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Fox Funeral Home in Boardman.
