New Middletown - Lawrence E. Chizmar, Sr., 92 There will be prayers at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Regis Heuschkel at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Dominic Church for Lawrence E. Chizmar, Sr. who passed peacefully away Sunday morning at his residence. Lawrence was born November 18, 1917 in Youngstown, a son of Matthew and Suzanna Schromofsky Chizmar, and has been a lifelong area resident. He graduated at South High School with the Class of 1935, then studied at Duquesne University and Ohio State. He served his country in the Army Air Force for four years during WWII. Following his return from active military duty, Lawrence worked for the family enterprise, Chizmar Hardware, and then in sales for Rhiel Supply and Youngstown Maintenance Supply, followed by various area construction supervision positions and real estate ventures. He concluded his career as Utility Inspector for the Cleveland office of HUD. Lawrence was a very active parishioner in St. Dominic Church, a long-term officer in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Olga Habodasz Chizmar whom he married June 26, 1941. He leaves four sons Lawrence, Jr. of Concord, CA, Anthony of Newport Richey, FL, Matthew of Pinole, CA and David of Greenford, OH; two daughters, Christine Allison of New Middletown, and Catherine Fercana of Florence, SC; daughters-in-law Adria Pou, Joan D'Angelo and Kathleen Hiner Chizmar; sons-in-law Garry Allison and George Fercana a brother Robert Chizmar of Boardman, 16 grandchildren and 7 great -grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by two brothers, George and Albert Chizmar, and two sisters, Anne Chizmar and Mary Cunningham. He was beloved by all of his family and will be greatly missed. Although in poor health at the end of his life, he never lost his zest for life. Friends may call from 5PM through 8PM Friday at Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
