Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN- Leo V. Arnaut, 87 There will be prayers at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Keehner at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Church for Leo V. Arnaut, 87, who passed away Wednesday afternoon. Leo was born July 30, 1923, in Youngstown, a twin son of Leo V. and Katherine Murphy Arnaut Sr. He attended South High School and worked for Republic Steel as a foreman in the Shipping Department retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, American Legion Post #730, a member of Purple Heart and the Y golf league of Mill Creek Park in which he was so proud of 8 Hole in Ones in his lifetime. Leo was a World War II army veteran who served next to his twin brother William and both received purple hearts for the wounds sustained at St. Lo by the same shell after crossing the English Channel June 6, 1944 in the D-Day landings. He will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret Beake whom he married on February 16, 1946. They were just two weeks from celebrating their 65th Wedding anniversary. Leo also leaves to cherish his memory, a son Billy (Judy) Arnaut of Canfield; two daughters, Peg (Tom) Fossesco of Boardman, Colleen (Ken) Joerndt of Austintown; a son-in -law Gregory Clementi of Boardman, a sister, Margaret Gallaugher of Boardman; a brother-in-law Jack Beake of Youngstown; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Lynn Arnaut Clementi and his twin brother William J. Arnaut. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home.
