Obituary

Margaret L. Kollmorgan, 83 BOARDMAN--Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman for Margaret L. Kollmorgan, 83 of Boardman who passed away Sunday morning. Margaret was born March 1, 1926. in Leetonia a daughter of the late Walter & Mary Elizabeth Beilhart Duff. She graduated from Leetonia High School in 1944 and went to Mount Union College where she graduated with a fine arts degree in 1948. Margaret received a master's degree in Library Science from Western Reserve Library School. Her 30 year library career began in high school in the Leetonia Public Library. While in library school, she worked at the Quincy Branch of the Cleveland Public Library from 1945 to 1948. Upon graduation she worked for the Warren Public Library as a children's librarian and audio visual supervisor. Upon her marriage she moved to North Towanda, NY and was head librarian there. When she returned to Youngstown, she was the Canfield Branch and Austintown Branch Librarian from 1967 to 1979. Margaret was so well liked as a librarian, that some patrons called her at home with reference questions after her retirement. After retirement she was very involved with the Austintown Library Friends Group, giving puppet shows, programs and book sales. She also volunteered with children's craft programs at Fosterville and Lowellville Libraries. Her Hobbies included crafts, folk art painting, gardening, sewing and reading. Margaret belonged to the Embroider's Guild and was very involved with the Austintown Homemakers Club and was a member of the Retired Librarians Luncheon Group. During WWII, Margaret worked for a brief time as a riveter. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Kollmorgan, who died January 24, 1978. She will be sorely missed by her sister Ruth Shutrump, of Boardman; three nieces Gretchen (Jeff) Bartlett of Bradenton, Florida , Jennifer (Dan) DeMoss and Stephanie (Glenn) Schafer both of Boardman; three nephews Arthur (Carol) Shutrump, Sr,, Timothy Shutrump and Arthur Shutrump, Jr., all of Boardman; and a great grand niece, Alexia Schaefer of Boardman; a stepson, Wesley Kollmorgan, Jr. of Lexington, Texas; three stepdaughters, Dianne (John) Ollila, of Martinez, CA, Judy Kollmorgan of Ashland Oregon and Janis (Pat) Powers of Santa Rosa, CA. Friends may call 5 to 8 Wednesday at the funeral home. Material tributes can be made in Margaret's name to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run, Poland, OH 44514.
