Obituary

Marian C. Moran, 88 YOUNGSTOWN - There will be a private service Friday at Edward J. Fox and Sons Funeral Home, for Marian C. Moran 88, formerly of Boardman, who died Wednesday morning at Meridian Arms Living Center. She was born in Youngstown on Sept. 15, 1918, to James and Bridget Varley Conroy. Her mother died shortly afterward in the Flu Epidemic of that year, and she was subsequently raised by her aunt, Catherine Varley and her grandmother, Mary Cavanaugh Varley. Mrs. Moran was a 1937 graduate of Ursuline High School, and worked at the Commercial Shearing and Stamping Company until her marriage on May 11, 1946 to John F. Moran, who died on March 11, 1970. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed creating needlepoint articles for her family and friends, and attending football games at the University of Notre Dame, her husband's alma mater. She was a former member of the Sekulta Club and the Youngstown Country Club. She leaves her daughters, Patricia (Hugh) Fagan of Youngstown and Catherine Moran and her companion Robert Campbell of Chicago; two granddaughters, whom she helped to raise, Bridget Kate Weizer and her fiance Richard Granger of Columbus, and Katrina Mary Weizer of Youngstown; her sister-in-law and closest friend, Ann M. Moran of Youngstown; and her "second family," the staff and fellow residents of Meridian Arms, who surrounded her with their loving care and support for five years. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Michael, Edward, Thomas, John and James; and her son-in-law, Hugh B. Fagan. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to the Meridian Arms Living Center Activity Fund, 650 S. Meridian Rd. Youngstown, OH 44509.
