"Sissy" Vukovich, who entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 22, with her family by her side. Marilyn "Sissy" Vukovich was born in Youngstown on Dec. 3, 1935, the youngest daughter of Marko Novosel and Anna Millage Novosel. Marilyn graduated from Wilson High School in 1953. She then attended St. Alexis Nursing School in Cleveland. Unfortunately, she contracted tuberculosis during her first year of school and spent an entire year at Sunny Acres T.B. Sanitarium. After full recovery, she returned to Youngstown and attended Youngstown College, where she entered into their newly developed program of Medical Technology. She was a member of the Women's Bowling Association in the 1970's and 80's, and enjoyed the game of Wii bowling with her family in the later years. She could be found rooting for her favorite football team, the Cleveland Browns, at Cleveland Stadium, in the 1960's, 70's and 80's as she and her husband were season ticket holders. In the summer, she was rooting for her favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Indians, and even had her picture taken with team mascot, Slider. She was an active member in her 500 Card Club and monthly Red Hat Ladies Club. Her other hobbies included reading the newspaper, watching the news, and listening to the news on all the local radio stations. Most importantly, though, Marilyn's priority was her family. She cared for her parents, siblings, husband, children and grandchild. She always put the needs of others before herself. She will always be remembered as a great friend to her many friends, and the "Best Mom Ever" to her children. Marilyn was also a lifelong and devout member of St. Dominic's Church in Youngstown.
