Marion Averell, 94 BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Charles Church, Boardman, for Marion Averell, 95, who passed away Monday evening, April 18, 2016. Marion was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Louis and Mary Teresi Pandolfo. She graduated from Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh in 1939, and was employed as a Pennsylvania Bell Telephone Operator. In Later years she again worked as an operator, but for Ogilvie Department Store. Marion, her husband ( the late Charles B. Averell ) and her family were members of St. Aloysius Church Parish in East Liverpool, where she was a member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus. In 1986 she and Charles moved to Boardman to be closer to their growing family. Marion and her husband joined St. Charles Church Parish, where Marion continued as a member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus, Poland Chapter. Marion was a loving wife, mother, mother - in - law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin. Being with her family was the best ! A homemaker who prepared traditional Italian feast for her family, she was truly an excellent cook and baker. Marion's longstanding family tradition of making Italian Christmas Teacakes will be continued. These special teacakes and her bashful chuckle are just part of her legacy. Her husband Charles B. Averell, whom she married July 27, 1946, died on April 7 of last year after they had celebrated over 68 years of marriage. She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Charles L. Averell of Valley City, Arthur A. Averell of Boardman, and Richard J. (Mary Jo) Averell of Boardman. She also leaves six grandchildren, Brian (Karen) Averell, Megan Averell, Devin (Katrina) Averell, Kristen (Mike) Keating, Justin (Shannon) Averell, and Marah (Kyle) Larson; and 14 great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Elliot Averell, James Miller, Sean Averell, Constance, Lydia, Annalise and Andrew Keating, Ryder and Kallen Dye, Mary and Katherine Averell, Tyler Cronie, and Jack Larson and a new great - grandchild due in August; as well as Marion's goddaughter, Rosemary Tornabene. Besides her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Averell. Friends and family may call from 9;30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at St. Charles Church, prior to the funeral mass.
