Martha Dory Tyrrell, a Boardman resident for over 50 years and Mahoning County businesswoman, died May 28, 2016, in Atlanta. She was 77. The cause was cancer, said her family, who were with her when she died. Mrs. Tyrrell was born in Louisville, Ky., to Julia Imorde and Kent Lane. She attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from the University of Louisville, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. She moved with her young family to Austintown with her first husband, Edward Dory, a buyer for the retail store Strauss' in 1965. They settled in Boardman with their four children. Martha was the sole owner of her own financial services business in Canfield with the country's largest independent broker dealer, Linsco/Private Ledger, who honored her many times throughout her 32-year career for outstanding client service and sales achievement. Recognized for her achievements in work and volunteerism, she was named a Woman of the Year in 1998 by the YWCA of Youngstown. She served on the board of directors of the Youngstown Ballet Guild/Ballet Western Reserve and the Youngstown Area Arts Council from 1970 to 1979. An active member of Altrussa International of Youngstown since 1992, she served as a member of the board as vice president and treasurer and edited the club newsletter. She married Emmet Tyrrell, an attorney, in 1989. Mr. Tyrrell died in 2004. Her first husband, Edward Dory, died in 1979. A member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, she was a past member of St. Charles Church in Boardman. Mrs. Tyrrell is survived by her four children, Michael (Sylvia Smith) of Arizona, John (Stacey Todd Holt) of New Jersey, Edward (Pamela Hebert) of Georgia and Elizabeth (Steven Ramsey) of New York, and six grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 10 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, celebrated by the Rev. Edward P. Noga. Family and friends may call at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m., prior to Mass. Martha's family asks that any memorial tributes be made to St. Patrick Church, 1410 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown, OH 44507.
