Mary Carmel Gross, 80 BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Rogers at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Church, for Mary Carmel Gross, 80, who passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at Shepherd of the Valley with her family at her side. She was born May 9, 1928 in Lowellville, a daughter of Frank and Mary Luscre Reale. She was a faithful member of the church for 47 years, where she served as a Eucharistic minister to the homebound. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, the Mission Circle, and served with her husband as a sponsor couple for those engaged to be married. She enjoyed craft making, especially crocheting. Mary was employed at West Boulevard Elementary and Glenwood Middle Schools as a cafeteria aide and in maintenance. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Peter J. Gross, whom she married on May 12, 1956. They enjoyed dancing, bus trips and traveling together; her two daughters, Cynthia Ann (Walter) Flory of Canton and Kathleen Wiseman of Pittsburgh; a son, Peter (Mary Ann) Gross Jr. of Youngstown; two sisters, Julia Kepp of Lorain and Jacqueline Softich of Struthers; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Reale. Friends may call from 5 to 8 Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, and 10 to 10:30 Thursday at St. Charles Church. Internment will be at Lake Park Cemetery The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Spratt, the staffs of Shepherd of the Valley and Southern Care for the excellent care Carmel received, and for their love and support.
