Mary Ruth Cavanaugh Palkovic, 86 There will be a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Timothy O'Neill at 11:00a.m. Saturday, December 7th at St. Patrick's Church in Hubbard, Ohio for Mary Ruth Cavanaugh Palkovic, 86 who passed away quietly in her sleep on November 27th. Mary Ruth was born on September 1, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of Howard J. and Ester Thomas Wiegel and has been an area resident for most of her life. She graduated from Ursuline High School with the Class of 1946 and attended Youngstown College and Kent State University. She worked at Republic Steel as the Administrative Assistant for Arby's International. Mary Ruth was a member of St. Edward's Parish and St. Patrick's Parish. She was National President of the Catholic War Veteran Auxiliary, President of CDA (Catholic Daughters of America), Friends of Butler, Colony Dance Club, Second Vice-President of Womens Forum on National Security and a long-time volunteer at Help Hotline. Her husband, CAPT. Richard M. Palkovic, a career Navy man who she married on November 7, 1981 died on June 23, 2003. Mary Ruth has four children, a son, Thomas H. Cavanaugh, who preceded her in death, and three daughters, Kathleen (John) Cavanaugh LaMantia of Anchorage, AK, Kelly (Jerry) Cavanaugh Wildes of Poland, Cheryl (James) Cavanaugh Fee of Hermitage, PA; five grandchildren, John D. (Vanessa) LaMantia of Juneau, AK, Casey (Adam) Wildes Engelbaugh of Poland, Anthony Genovese of Boardman, Jacqueline (David) Genovese Lucas of West Middlesex, PA, Katlyn Genovese of Hubbard; two great-grandchildren Johnny LaMantia of Juneau, AK and Jake Engelbaugh of Poland; two sisters, Joanne O'Neil of Wheaton, IL and Joyce Weigel Barrett of Boardman. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St. Hubbard, OH 44425.
