Obituary

Mary L. Swartz, 85 BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerald DeLucia at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Church, Boardman, for Mary L. Swartz, 85, who passed away Tuesday morning. Mary was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Lorene Welsh Hadnett. She was a 1944 graduate of South High School and enjoyed their monthly class reunions. Prior to her marriage, Mary worked at Commercial Shearing. She was a member of St. Charles Church, its Over 55 Club, the Altar Guild, the Mission Circle No. 4, and president and member of the Junior Seton Circle. Mary loved helping others in need and became a volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Society Soup Kitchen downtown. Devoted to her family, Mary loved to bring together her family for family gatherings. Her husband Kenneth H. Swartz, whom she married June 4, 1949, passed away Sept. 21, 2000. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kenneth F Swartz of South Carolina, Mary Ann Hartsock of Boardman, and Timothy (Cindy) Swartz of Boardman; seven grandchildren, Keith Swartz, Brenda (Steve) Gentile, Eric Swartz, Katie- Hartsock (Jon) Geltner, David (fiancAC.e Catrina) Hartsock, Lindsey, and Lorene Swartz; and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Lilly. Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, George Hadnett. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Charles Church.
