Michael J. Rance, 84 POLAND - Prayers will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated Msgr. William Connell at 9:30 at the Holy Family Church, Poland, for Michael J. Rance, 84, who passed away Tuesday evening at home with his family by his side. Mike was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Brier Hill, a son of James and Rose Billett Rance. A 1946 graduate of The Rayen School, Mike played football and was in many musical productions. As a young man, Mike sang in New York and Las Vegas. Mike was a entertainer and leader of the Sportsmen Band, playing in many clubs, weddings and parties over the years. Michael worked at the Printz Company in Warren and George Lawrence Tailors in Youngstown, and retired in 1994 from the State of Ohio (ODOT) in Canfield as a Maintenance Supervisor. He loved horses and belonged to the Mahoning Saddle & Bridle Club, where he judged horse shows. Mike was a member of the Holy Family Church and was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Army. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Florence Marrie, whom he married June 27, 1959, and two daughters Susan (Jerry) Locke of Columbus, and Cheryl (Doug) Smith of Poland. Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, James Rance and Edward Rance Sr. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. Mike's family wishes to thank the staff at MVI Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
