Nancy Evans Carothers, 83, of 8084 Forest Lake Drive, Boardman, passed away in the early morning hours of October 2, 2009 at Hospice of the Valley in Poland, Ohio. Nancy was born on August 11, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Catherine Evans. Nancy graduated from Sandusky High School in 1944 and attended Flora Stone Mathers at Case Western Reserve. She later became the society editor for the Sandusky Register Newspaper. Nancy was married to Rodney P. Carothers on November 24, 1951. Their marriage continued for 43 years until his passing in 1994. Nancy was a homemaker and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Nancy, a loving mother and cherished nana, leaves behind two sons, R. Bruce Carothers (Pamela) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Daniel E. Carothers (Brenda) of Lexington, Kentucky; two daughters, Katie Carothers Kocon (Phil) of Poland, Ohio and Jamie Carothers Auer (Tom) of St. Louis, Missouri; a brother, William H. Evans III of Mentor, Ohio; and ten grandchildren. There will be no calling hours, but a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
