Nicholas Anthony Tefakis-42 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 30, 10:00 a.m., at St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church for Nicholas Anthony Tefakis, Jr., 42, who passed away Saturday, August 23. Nick was born October 3, 1971 in Youngstown, OH, a son of Nicholas Anthony and Besse Ann Morran Tefakis. He attended Boardman Center Middle School and graduated from Boardman High School in 1990. He grew up in the parish and community of St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church, Boardman, where he participated in the Greek Orthodox Youth of America (GOYA) and was an altar boy. Nick received his Bachelor in History from Ohio University and attended Youngstown State University pursuing a Masters Degree in History. After several years in the field of sales, he moved to Ashtabula, OH where he contributed to the care of a close friend's father and worked as a groundskeeper and a trusted estate caretaker. Nick was employed at Lukjan Metal Products, Conneaut, OH, as a metal fabricator. Nick was an avid Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steelers fan but also enjoyed following a wide variety of sports. He always greeted adversity with humor. He demonstrated a passion for history and his Greek Orthodox heritage. He will be greatly missed. Nick leaves behind the light of his life, a daughter, Melina Tefakis of Austintown, OH; a sister, Kellie (Theophilos) Karavokiros of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Mark (Nia) Tefakis also of Charlotte, NC; three nieces, Anna and Sophia Tefakis and Besse Ann Karavokiros; and one nephew, George Karavokiros. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Nicholas and Besse Tefakis. A Trisagion Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 9:00 a.m. at St John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation for family and friends will be in the church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The funeral will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Forerunner Greek Orthodox Church, 4955 Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, OH 44512 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at Make-A-Wish Foundation, 6060 Rockside Woods Blvd N, Suite 315, Independence, OH 44131.
