Obituary

Norris E. Wingo, 91 YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Edward Noga for Norris E. Wingo, 91, who passed away Thursday morning at his daughter Debbie's home. Norris was born January 16,1924 in Spruce Pine, Alabama, a son of Eric Bowser and Bulah Wingo and moved to the Youngstown area when he was 24 years old. Norris served his country during WWII as an army medic receiving the bronze starr and many other medals. After the war he worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a crane operator for 30 years, he also worked at Mahoning Colvert and Dempsey Steel. The whole time he worked in the steel industry he worked part time at the Fox Funeral Home, celebrating over 50 years of service. He was a member of USW #2163 and loved to play cards and spend time with his family and friends. His wife of over 55 years Genevieve Metzinger, whom he married on September 25, 1950, passed away on August 2, 2006. He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Debra A. (Dan) Skica of Youngstown, Judy Noble of Osage Beach, MO; his four sons, Paul E. (Madeleine) Kerr, Jr. of Boardman, Robert N. (Patricia) Wingo of Boardman, Jeff (Laurie) Bartholomew of New Middletown, Joey (Jackie) Bartholomew of Osage Beach, MO ; two brothers, Ralph and Coy Wingo of Alabama; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, Norris was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia M. Laue and Karen Wingo; three sisters, Rachel Pounders, Imogine Wingo and Gladys Hovater and two brothers, Jack and Roy Wingo. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m Friday at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman
