Patrick James McCarthy, 86 YOUNGSTOWN - Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. at the Fox Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Rev. Michael Swierz at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 28, at St. Anthony of Padua Church for Patrick James McCarthy, 86, who passed away at his residence Friday Morning. Patrick was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Youngstown, son of Patrick J. and Florence Connolly McCarthy Sr. He was a lifelong area resident and he attended East High School. Patrick was a private first class, he was Honorably discharged from the Army of the United States of America in 1952. Patrick worked at the Briar hill Youngstown Sheet & Tube in the Crain Department. Patrick worked for Bank One, where he retired as a vault cashier. Patrick was of Catholic faith, he was a member of local 8841 V.F.W. and of the Eastside fruit street reunion. Patrick often called himself "I'm the most unlucky Irishman," however, he loved going to casinos with his wife and family, his real passion was lottery scratch offs. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Irene L. Harrison, whom he married Sept. 12, 1953; his daughters, Helen A. McCarthy (Ted) Stadnik of Youngstown and Florence M. (Richard A.) Tabak of Catawba, N.C. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Alice (Spencer), Jacky, Janine (Shawn), Amy, Teddy (Maria); and four great-grandchildren, Finnegan Patrick, Emily, Madelyn and Jonathan; plus one great-grandchild on his way Connor. Patrick has two sisters, Ms. Irene McCarthy of Youngstown and Theresa Neubrech of Potomac, Md. Besides his parents, Patrick was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John McCarthy; and two sisters, Rosella McCarthy and Catherine Wilson. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman.
