Ralph F. Fagert, 84 BOARDMAN-There will be a Funeral Services held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Christine Church, Youngstown, preceded by a 10 a.m. prayer service held at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, for Ralph F. Fagert, 84 of Boardman, who died peacefully Sunday afternoon at Briarfield Manor surrounded by his family. Ralph was born February 2, 1928 in Hannibal, OH, a son of the late Clark and Anna Lawrence Fagert and has been an area resident for over 60 years. Ralph served in the Navy during WWII, after which he attended the York Institute in York, PA to be a York refrigeration and air conditioning service manager. Ralph was placed in Youngstown to manage the York Mahoning Company, which was owned by the Raffle Brothers, a kitchen equipment contracting company. When the Raffle Brothers founded the successful Arby's restaurant chain, they sold the York Mahoning Company to Ralph who owned and operated it until his retirement in 1989. Ralph has served on the advisory boards of the Oblate Sisters and the Mahoning National Bank. He had served as president of the South Side Lions and the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors of Eastern Ohio and Western PA. He had been a member of Knights of Columbus, the Cinquanta Club of the Oblate Sisters, the Builders Association and the Tippecanoe Country Club. He had served many years on the apprenticeship committee for the plumber pipefitter union. He was especially proud to serve many years running the beer booth at St. Christine's Festival with his friends and family. Ralph had many community interests that included Hospice, the Oblate Sisters, the Ursuline Sisters, Mill Creek Children's Center, St. Christine Church, Ursuline High School, Second Harvest Food Bank, St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Dorothy Day House. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his family and had many trips with his wife Mary around the World. They most especially enjoyed their many trips to Las Vegas. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ralph is survived by the love of his life, his wife the former Mary Delbrugge, whom he married on April 14, 1951 last year celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Ralph leaves four sons, Ralph (Janice) Fagert of Columbiana, Michael (Mary Jo) Fagert of Canfield, Dr. Gregory (Carol) Fagert of New Middletown, Ronald (Deborah) Fagert of Poland; three daughters, Marybeth (Richard) Strom of Howland, Debbie (Garth) LaJeunesse of Johnstown, OH, Karen von Spiegel of Stow, OH; two brothers, George C. Fagert of Massillon, OH, Paul W. Fagert of Shadyside, OH; a sister Lois Mae Krone of Myrtle Beach, SC; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family request any memorial contributions be made in Ralph's honor to the Oblate Sisters, 50 Warren Rd. Hubbard, OH 44425. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home, Boardman.
