Ray "Skip" Jenkins,72 POLAND- Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, celebrated by Pastor Russ Adams , for Ray "Skip" Jenkins, 72 of Poland, who passed away Saturday afternoon at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Boardman. Ray was born July 1, 1938 in Youngstown the son of William H. and Jean A. Wilms Jenkins , graduated from South High School and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force was part of a special unit and played Baseball for the Air Force. After serving his country he played Minor League Baseball in Texas and California. He was an engineer for the P& LE and the CSX Railroads retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member and past president of the Brotherhood of Rail Road Trainmen Union. Skip has been involved with playing and managing area baseball and softball for many years. He was also quite an animal lover and was known for saving and housing many stray animals. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Joan E Ross whom he married December 16, 1978; his two daughters, Pamela Jenkins (James Markovich) and Sharon (Stephen) Ilovsky Sr. all of Youngstown; his grandson Stephen Ilovsky Jr. who was Skip's buddy and sunshine of his life. Skip also leaves his brothers-in-law Fred (Laura) Ross and Mike (Pat) Ross both of New Middletown; and sister-in-law Sharleen (Bob) Grunenwald of Cincinnati; and also his dog Teddy Bear. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Fred and Claire Ross. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to be made to the American Heart Association, 840 Southwestern Run Dr, Poland, and OH 44514. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
