Obituary

There will be a Memorial Mass held at 10 a.m. on Friday July 15, 2016 at Saint Dominic Church, celebrated by Rev. Gregory Maturi, for Richard F. Moran 75, who passed away peacefully on March 4, 2016 at his home in Huntington Beach CA., surrounded by his loved ones. Richard was born on September 8, 1940 in Youngstown to parents Richard Francis and Mildred Hillah Moran. Richard was proud of the fact that he was raised on the Southside of Youngstown. He went to Saint Dominic School and then graduated from South High School with the Class of 1957. Richard attended Ohio State University, where he played football, but later enlisted in the Army where he spent 2 years stationed in Germany. After the army Richard started working in the Refractory Business, he worked for major companies such as Kaiser Aluminum, his work moved him around the country, but his home was in Southern CA. where he worked with the Pryor Giggey Co. a trusted manufacturer of high quality refractory products. Richard was an avid golfer, he enjoyed Traveling to play golf with his friends and his Nephews. He would yearly come back to Youngstown to attend the annual snack shop reunion and golf outing. Richard married his wife Jeanette Beatrice Moran in 1972 and she passed away in November of 2002. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Melinda Moran Luna of Huntington Beach CA.; his grandson Brandon and wife Jessy McCallum of San Diego CA.; a brother Dr. Dennis Wm. Moran ( Noreen Dean Moran ) of South Bend. IN.; a brother in law, William H. ( Judy ) Jenkins of Salem Oh. He leaves seven nephews, William ( Maureen ) Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Richard ( Crissi ) Jenkins, Padraic Moran , Brian ( Tammy ) Loew, Bradley Loew and Daniel ( Melissa ) Loew; several great nieces and great nephews and so many wonderful, lifelong friendships that he loved so much. Besides his parents and his wife, Jeanette, he was also preceded in death by his sisters Diane Moran Jenkins and Donna Moran (Randall) Loew. On March 23rd, the Rosary & Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's by the Sea Catholic Church in Huntington Beach CA. and a graveside burial with Military Honors took place after mass at Pacific View Memorial Park Cemetery, in Corona Del Mar, Ca.
