POLAND-Rita Joan Centafanti-79 A private memorial service to celebrate the life of Rita Joan Centafanti will be held at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman. Rita died of natural causes the morning of January 27 at Hampton Woods in Poland. Rita was born on January 31, 1933 in Holidaysburg, PA, the daughter of Jack and Almeda DeLozier Shaffer and came to the Youngstown area as a child. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with the Class of 1950 and helped others her entire life as a medical assistant and caregiver. Her husband Carmen J. Centafanti whom she married December 31, 1950 died on January 10, 1976. She is survived by her son, Gary (Cathy) Centafanti of Naples, FL; a daughter Sandy (John)Toy of North Lima; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. "Friends and family will remember her for putting others first at all times, helping those in need, and for her strong vibrant personality. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her." Besides her husband and parents, Rita was preceded in death by her two brothers, Larry Shaffer and Robert Troxell. Friends may gather from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Reserve Run Golf Course.
