Rita C. Edwards, 90 AUSTINTOWN--There will be no funeral services for Rita C. Edwards who passed away on Sunday, June 29 at Briarfield Manor after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Rita was born August 2, 1917 in Youngstown, the daughter of Philip F. Edwards and Stella (Flynn) Edwards. A graduate of the 1936 class of South High School, Rita was employed in in the executive offices of the Manufacturing Div. of Republic Steel for 42 years, retiring in 1978. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Charles parish for 60 years. Rita is survived by her nephews Philip (Sandra) Wertz of Canfield, Joseph Wertz of Lisbon; her nieces Maryann King of Louisville, Ky., Carol (Bill) Moyer of Canfield, Diane (Jerry) Smith of Lebanon, Tenn., Betty O'Maker of Tyler, Texas, , Barbara Wertz of Canfield and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Five sisters, Elizabeth Wertz, Victoria Ditmansen, Mary T. Edwards, Frances M. Edwards, Anne M. Rienerth and her brother Philip are deceased. She also was preceded in death by her nephews, Peter Wertz, Jr. and John Ditmansen Jr. Family wishes to thank the staff of Briarfield Manor and Hospice of The Valley for their tender care of her.
