Poland, Capt. Robert James Kane, 63 Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday at the Fox Funeral Home, Boardman followed by a mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev Edward Noga at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, Youngstown for Capt. Robert James Kane, 63 of Poland who passed away Monday evening at the Hospice House after a battle with cancer of the kidney. Robert affectionately known at B-Bop was born Sept 4, 1946 in Youngstown a son of Robert F. & Evelyn D. Chaurette Kane . Bob graduated from St. Patrick School and was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School attended Youngstown State University and graduated from the Police Academy. He started with the Youngstown Police Dept. in 1971, made detective in 1977, Lieutenant in 1981, captain in 1989 then retiring October of this year. He was the longest serving Chief of Detectives in the history of the Youngstown Police Dept. Bob attended St. Patrick Church all of his life, was a member of the F.O.P. # 28 and the American Legion Kelly Ward Varley Post. He loved working outdoors, driving his 1957 Bel Air, enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He served his country in the Army. Bob leaves to cherish his memory his wife the former Carlotta M. Fagnano, whom he married Dec 2, 1972 a daughter Kimberly (Scott) Schneider of Boardman, a son Robert (Dannielle) Kane of Atlanta, Georgia; three brothers, Thomas (Donna) Kane of Columbus, Ohio, Edward (Margaret) Kane of Boardman and Martin (Barbara) Kane of Canfield.
