Robert E. Barber, 95 YOUNGSTOWN-There will be a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fox Funeral Home for Robert E. Barber who passed away Tuesday morning at his residence at the age of 95. Bob was born on June 7, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of Robert R. and Margaret E. Evans Barber and was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran who served his country as a soldier in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. After returning home from the war Bob worked as a crane operator at Republic Steel for 39 years when he retired. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge. Bob's wife the former Rita Cliff whom he married on January 11, 1947 died on November 4, 2002 after 55 years of marriage. Bob is lovingly remembered by his three sons, Robert (Judy) R. Barber of Quinlan, TX, Phillip (Rhonda) Barber Sr. of Clendenin, WV, Cliff (Cindy) Barber of Elida, OH; a daughter Karen J. LaVassaur of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Stephanie A. Barber, Kevin M. Barber, Phillip Barber Jr., John Barber, Jason Barber, Christina LaVassaur, Robbie Brooks and eight great grandchildren. Besides his wife and parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his daughter Kathleen J. Barber; brother, David Barber; two sisters, Margaret Kirby and Dorothy Sweiz. The visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512 prior to his service.
