Robert Cessna, 92, died Thursday, September 21 at Humility House in Austintown. Mr. Cessna was born September 3, 1914 in Plumville, Pa. Robert and Mary Cessna were married in 1933, moving from Punxsutawney, Pa. to Youngstown shortly after. Robert was a master salesman all of his adult life. He founded Cessna Homes in 1952 and served as President and Chairman of the Board until he retired. He was an avid golfer. An enthusiastic sports fan he always cheered for the under dog - unless they were playing Pitt or Penn State. He is survived by his children, Robert of New York, New York, James of Youngstown, Sister Margaret Cessna, H.M. of Cleveland, John of Utica, New York, Thomas of Youngstown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jim Cessna, Maggie Coleman, Betsy Cessna, Joe Cessna, Matt Cessna, Marc Cessna, Leah Cessna, Robert Cessna, Zosia Cessna, Kasia Cessna and Anna Cessna; and his great-grandchildren, Morgan and Patrick Coleman, Taylor Cessna and Sophia Cessna, and his brother William Cessna of Fort Myers, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary; his son William M. Cessna; his parents Harvey Cessna and Pauline Cessna; his brothers Harold Cessna, Russell Cessna and Ray Cessna and his sister Martha MacAfoose. All services will be private.
