Robert C. (Bob) McFarland, 79 Robert (Bob) C. McFarland passed away Monday afternoon at Forum Northside Hospital. Robert was born in Youngstown on Dec. 17,1926. He was the son of John J. (Packey) and Bemice (Philips) McFarland He was a graduate of Ursuline High and Youngstown College. He worked at Republic Steel where he was in charge of the employment office before becoming Fire Marshall in the Safety Department. Robert then went to work for Allstate Insurance for 28 years, where upon his retirement he then worked for the State of Ohio Auditors office before finally retiring in 1994. Robert was a past president of the St. Dominic's PTA, as well as serving as head laymen there, where he started the first church festival in 1969. Bob loved politics, and he served as Democrat precinct committee man for many years. He was a chronic caller of the Dan Ryan radio show, and was a guest on it on several occasions. Robert enjoyed golf, and was a charter member at Leffingwell Hills Country Club in Canfield. His wife, Dolores (Barry) McFarland, whom he married to for 46 years, died in 1988. Robert leaves his daughter Terry A. (Martin) Harris of Rhode Island, and sons ( Robert Barry McFarland of Youngstown, Timothy E. McFarland of Youngstown, Brian J. (Paula) McFarland of Rhode Island, and Kevin P. (Diane) McFarland of Austintown. He also leaves six grandchildren. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 am. at the Fox Funeral Home and 10:30 am. at Saint Dominic Church.
