Ruth M. Carlson, 88 BOARDMAN--A Celebration of Life service will be held for Ruth M. Carlson on 11 a.m. Saturday at Evangel Baptist Church. Ruth graduated to Glory on May 16th at The Hospice House with her family at her side. Ruth was born February 27, 1919 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Reverend Hiram A. and Nina B. (Price) Pegg. She came to the Youngstown area in 1937 after graduating high school and worked part time at Kress Dime Store. Ruth loved being a wife to her beloved husband, Don, and mother to her three children, Ronald, Dorothy, and Larry, as well as a Grandma to her grandchildren. Family and her faith in the Lord were the loves of her life. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, cooking, baking, keeping her home, and church activities. She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church. She enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood and growing up as one of seven children in Michigan. Ruth enjoyed sharing stories about all the things that were important to her and she did so with a twinkle in her eye. She left a strong legacy of faith which will continue. Ruth is survived by her husband Don, whom she married on December 3, 1965, step-son and step-daughter-in law, Richard and Belinda Carlson of Vail, Colorado, step-daughter, Barbara (Carlson) Fryman of Mansfield, grandchildren; Karen (Weir) Wensel of Hubbard, Tammy (Johnston) Johns of Howland, Christine Johnston of Howland, Kristi (Fryman) Green of Mansfield, and Keith Fryman of Mansfield, great-grandchildren: Ethyan and Kenley Johns of Howland, Taylor and Caleb Wensel of Hubbard, Lucas, Levi and Jordanne Green of Mansfield, sisters: Martha (Pegg) Shaken of Sebring, Florida and Mary (Pegg) Schneider of St. Clair, Michigan and many nieces and nephews. She is also experiencing a wonderful reunion with those that have gone on before her: son Ronald Johnston; daughter, Dorothy (Johnston) Brosko; son, Larry Johnston; 4 grandchildren; brothers; James Pegg, John Pegg, and Paul Pegg, and sister; Esther (Pegg) Lilienthal. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material contributions to be given in Ruth's name to The Hospice House 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514 Final arrangements were entrusted to Fox Funeral Home in Boardman, with interment to be done in Lake Park Cemetery.
