Samuel M. "Opie" Opatich, 58 COLUMBUS - Samuel M. "Opie" Opatich passed away on Aug. 29, 2015. Opie was born Oct, 13, 1956, in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Gertrude Opatich and has been a lifelong area resident. Sam leaves behind a brother, Michael and a sister-in-law Susan Opatich; as well as his daughter, Jennifer Catanzirite; and sons Kevin, Michael and Sam Jr. Sam attended St. Dominic's grade school and Woodrow Wilson High School and enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Howard Gilmore. Sam also leaves behind eight beautiful grandchildren, two boys and six girls. Sam loved to ride Harleys and go fishing with his son, Mike. Sam was a true friend and an even better father, he will be forever missed. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home. Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Sinisa Hrvacevic at the Fox Funeral Home. Interment services will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
