Obituary

Shelyne Noelle Ungar, 45, died Wednesday morning December 21, 2016 at the Sharrott Rd. Hospice House wither her loving family by her side. Shelyne was born in Youngstown. Feb 27, 1971, a daughter of John "Hawk" and Barbara (Reed) Ungar. Shelyne graduated from Canfield High School in 1989 and from the University of South Carolina with a BA in English and Theatre. Shelyne's love for the ocean is what drew her to South Carolina and USC. During her time at USC, Shelyne worked and acted in the theatre. She also did a cameo in the movie "Last Dance" with Sharon Stone. Shelyne loved cats, collecting everything Coca-Cola and she absolutely loved NASCAR with Jimmie Johnson being her favorite driver. When illness came at an early age, Shelyne fought hard and struggled not to let it interfere with her everyday life. She was brave and saw the good during the dark hours. This brought a smile to the faces and hearts of her family, although they knew how hard she struggled. Let it never be said that she wasn't a fighter. Shelyne leaves behind to cherish her memory her mother, Barb and dad Paul Gavin of Canfield, step-brother Paul (Amy) Gavin Jr. of Darlington, PA, her aunts and uncles, several cousins and close friends who were dear to her heart, and her cat, Harmony, whom she loved to pieces. Shelyne was preceded in death by her father, John "Hawk" Ungar and her grandparents, Alfred (Dorothy MacDonald) Ungar and Orville (Marie Maloney) Reed. The care given to Shelyne by her mother and father was immeasurable. The family would like to thank the Hospice House and the many people who assisted in Shelyne's car. You know who you are and the family is grateful. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at Bethel Assembly Church. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at the Church 3807 Mahoning Ave. Austintown, Ohio. Arrangements are being handled by the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home.
