Stella F. Velichko, 97 There will be prayers at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home and a Christian Burial Service will be 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, celebrated by Deacon Michael Schlais for Stella F. Velichko, 97, who passed away Tuesday morning at Brookdale Nursing Home. Stella was born March 27, 1918, in Youngstown, a daughter of Frank and Paranka Dyskant Janeczko and was a lifelong area resident. She attended St. Stanislaus grade school and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She was a "South Side girl" who grew up at 636 Tyndale and was very proud of her Polish heritage. During the war Stella supported her country as a "Rosie the Riveter" helping in the factories manufacturing war supplies. She was a true homemaker, raising a family, knitting, crocheting, sewing and canning fruits and vegetables. She was a lifelong active parishioner of St. Stanislaus parish, enjoyed polkas and playing cards but most of all spending time with her family. Her husband, Nicholas Martin Velichko, whom she married on October 5,1939, passed away February 3, 2004 almost celebrating 65 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Nick F. (Audrey) Velichko of Youngstown; a daughter, Elaine (Roger) Green of Vienna; a sister, Eleanor Kuzak of Boardman; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, Stella was preceded in death by a sister Julie Trupin; a brother, Joseph Janecszko and a granddaughter, Debbie Puhalla. In lieu of flowers the family request monetary donations to go to Alzheimer's Association, 3695 B. Boardman-Canfield Rd. Suite 301, Canfield, OH 44406.
