Sylvia Rose Melnek, 77 STRUTHERS - Services will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Saint John's Episcopal Church for Sylvia Rose Melnek, 77, who died Friday at her home. Sylvia was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Bristol, England, a daughter of Charles and Rose French. Sylvia was schooled in England and came to the United States in 1948. After coming to the U.S., Sylvia worked in retail then became a homemaker and was the secretary at St. Michael Church in Canfield, retiring in 2006. She was a 50-year member of St. John's Episcopal Church, its Altar Guild, taught Sunday school, and she loved children. Sylvia was active in the church and never missed a function. She also belonged to the Struthers P.T.A. Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Peter, whom she married April 25, 1953; two sons, Mark C. (Margaret) Melnek of Poland and David P. (Connie) Melnek of Delaware, Ohio; two sisters, Carol (John) Salaka and Lorraine Dorko, both of Youngstown; and six grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, Angelissa, Emily, Austin and Michaela. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Richard Dorko. Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fox Funeral Home in Boardman. Memorial tributes may be made in memory of Sylvia to St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44503.
