Obituary

Thomas Jerard Boyle,63 Youngstown- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christine Church at 7 pm Monday for Thomas Jerard Boyle, 63. He passed away on February 9, 2016 after a 22 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 18, 1953. The son of the late James Arnold and Eileen (Carey) Boyle. Thomas leaves behind his loving wife Colleen (Collins), whom he married August 10, 1974 and their two children Erin (Jason) Bishop of Youngstown and Kevin Boyle of Youngstown and his grandsons, Jack Thomas and Ethan Robert Bishop. He is survived by his three brothers, James (Angie) of Canfield, John (Lynn) of Columbus, Marty (Mary Beth) of Columbus. And one sister, Mary (John) Demidovich of Youngstown. A sister Anne is deceased. And many nieces and nephews.Tom was a proud 1971 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Youngstown State University. Tom worked at U.S. Steel from 1972-1979. Upon the closure of U.S. Steel, he was employed at the Warren Coke Plant and continued to work in the steel industry for forty-five years, retiring from Arcelor Mittal Steel on January 4, 2016. Tom was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 1375. Tom was a lifelong member of St. Christine Parish and he was an active member. He volunteered his time in the religious education program, the yearly parish festival, and at the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality. He was a member of the Parish Golf And Bowling Leagues. He was a former President of the St. Christine Booster Club and coach of the 5th and 6th grade boys football team. He was an integral part In the building of the St. Christine Football Field. On January 8, 2016 Tom was a recipient of the St. Christine School 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award.He loved his walks in Mill Creek Park and his yearly trips to the OuterBanks. Calling hours will be held from 2:30pm- 6:30pm followed by Mass at 7 pm on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown. The family would like to thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses, family and friends who helped take care of Tom. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Thomas Boyle Memorial Fund, c/o Huntington National Bank,1732 S. Racoon Rd. Austintown 44515.
