THOMAS J. COX (1946-2007) Thomas J. Cox, 61, of Rockland Drive, Boardman, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007, at the Louis Stokes Veterans Hospital in Cleveland following complications from surgery. He was born in Youngstown March 5, 1946 to John "Jack" and Margaret "Pearl" Cox. He was a 1964 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served two years in Vietnam before being honorably discharged. He started his worklife at the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, but spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry as president and founder of Landmark Petroleum Management. In his early career and during the last several years, he worked in the insurance industry. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Della Jean, whom he married February 17, 1968 and their two children, Amy Leigh Wilson and husband, Jeffrey, and Thomas J. "Toby" Cox Jr. along with four grandchildren, Natalie Joy and Jarod Michael Wilson of Boardman and Sydney Ellen and Madelyn Pearl Cox of West Chester, Ohio. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy (Russell) Hewitt, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Marietta Pearl of Austintown; his brother, Edward A. (Nancy) Cox of Canfield; his mother-in-law, Margaret Sympson of Youngstown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He was a member of the Division VI Ancient Order of Hibernians, the American Legion and a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party. Calling hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Fox Funeral Home in Boardman. A Mass of Christian Burial with military rite will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown.
