Obituary

Thomas F. Ellashek, 66, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. Tom was born November 2, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Richard H. Ellashek Sr. & Antonette Taormina Ellashek. Tom graduated from South High School in 1968. He served his country with the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed for 35 years at General Motors UAW Local 1112 in the paint department retiring in 2003. Tom enjoyed bowling and golf but his real passion was winemaking. He will be remembered for sharing the fruits of his labor. He loved vacations at the ocean and the Isle of Palms in South Carolina. He married, the former Margaret (Peg) Riley, on March 2, 1974. They had two children, a daughter, Megan M. Ellashek, and a son, Thomas P. Ellashek. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard (Linda) Ellashek Jr., Donald (Cindy) Ellashek and a sister Deborah (Michael) Mondora. He will be sadly missed by his sister in laws, Mary Kay Riley, Patty (Bill) Kane, Joan Tutko, Judy (John) Richley, brother-in-law, James Timothy Riley and many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who all loved "Uncle Tommy", and his canine companions, Ciara and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Tutko. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at Christ Our Savior Parish - St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, Ohio, where there will be a mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Bernie Gaeta. The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512.
